For my major project in my final year the goal was to create an activity pack that all members of the family could use together.
My inspiration was seaglass, glass that has been discarded into the ocean, physically and chemically weathered then washed up onto shore, it is something I have always loved collecting. I wanted to make sure it was entertaining for all age groups so I designed a children’s activity book meant for ages 5-10 and seaglass cards for adults and older children. The Activity book included a variety of pages featuring different games, colouring pages, information as well as blank and lined paper to encourage imagination. A pocket was put in the front cover of the activity book to allow for some extra storage and I included organza bags within the box that fit into this pocket or can be used by themselves to collect the seaglass in. Pencil holders were included to be stuck in the activity book and in a notebook should adults decide they wish to use one alongside their cards and colouring pencils and pencils were also included so that everything needed for the children’s activity book was there. The cards were created as a guide for adults to join in learning about and hunting for seaglass. It was important to me that as my target audience were parents that they were easy to carry so they are credit card sized and designed to be easily carried either all on the ring or be able to be detached from the ring and taken out individually slotted into a purse, pocket or phone case. The activity pack came with a introduction leaflet explaining how to use and warning about safety concerns and is housed within a box to keep all the pieces together and provide a place to store your seaglass. Every element making up the set I designed, illustrated, photographed and made myself.
